Recipes for Wipes Solutions
Using cloth wipes is a great way to save money, and is a natural and safe way to clean your babies bottom.
There are good reasons for why certain ingredients used in home made wipes soultions.Here is why:
Oil: Helps the wipe glide across baby's skin and keeps skin soft
Soap: Cleans by removing all traces of waste
Essential Oils: Known as EO. Used for antibacterial and aromatherapy purposes.
Water: The main ingredient in each recipe, cleanses the diaper area and dilutes the other ingredients
There are many different solutions out there with which you can play around with until you find something that suits
you and your baby.
Here are some suggestions for easy wipes solution recipes:
Plain Water
You can simply use plain water. Either put in a spray bottle and we tthe wipes as you go,
or fill an old luncbox or wipes container with water and soak your cloth wipes in it.
Vinegar Water
1 tablespoon of white vinegar
1-2 drops of tee tree/lavender oil
1 cup of water. (Do not use on a baby who has red nappy rash as the vinegar will sting)
Bi Carb Water
2 tablespoons of bicarb soda
1-2 drops of tee tree/lavender oil
1 cup water
Chamomile Tea Solution
1 camomile tea bag
2 cups water
Squeeky Clean Solution
1 teaspoon of baby oil
1 teaspoon of baby wash
1 cup of water
Sorbolene Solution
3 tablespoons of sorbolene cream
1 cup of hot water
Essential Oils Solution
2 drops of lavender oil
2 drops of tee tree oil
1 cup of water
Aloe Vera Solution
2 tablespoons of 100% aloe vera gel
2 drops of lavender oil
1 cup water
Here is a full list of ingredients you can experiment with:
water, bi carb soda, vinegar, lavender oil, tee tree oil, cammomile tea, baby oil, baby wash, sorbolene cream,
olive oil, almond oil, coconut oil, apricot oil, 100% aloe vera gel, baby massage oil, baby shampoo, liquid
glycerine, liquid lanolin.
Once you make a solution you are happy with, you then need to find a storage system that works for you.
Here are some suggestions:
Use a spray bottle to spray your baby's bottom or the wipes.
Use a bottle with a pull-up spout (like on bottled-water bottles) to dribble solution onto the wipes.
Warm your chosen solution and place in an insulated container to provide warm wipes for baby.
Place the solution into a commercial baby wipes container or an old lunchbox and dip wipes into the solution.
